Constellix IP Filters

DNS Filters

Create unique routing rules based on users' location or network

IP Filters are rules you can apply your records. If a user meets the requirement(s) of the filter, they will be answered with that record. Otherwise, they will be answered with the World/Default.

IP Filters can be used to:

  • Build a firewall at the DNS level that allows you to block malicious traffic before it even reaches your servers.
  • Create unique rules for mobile traffic, countries, cities, even IP addresses.

Filters can be created for: regions, countries, cities, IP addresses (IPv4 and IPv6), ASN (Autonomous System Network) of the resolving name server, or EDNS client subnet.

Available for A, AAAA, CNAME, and now ANAME records.

Proximity-based Routing

Reduce load times with localized responses

Our GeoIP engine automatically points your users to the closest servers in your network. You can use it to build your own CDN !

GeoProximity targeting let's you hone in on users from as broad as regional, to as granular as city level lookups! You can even specify the longitude and latitude of your lookups.

Available for A, AAAA, CNAME, and now ANAME records.

Global Traffic Director (GTD)

Regional Traffic Steering

GTD allows you to create region-specific records. Users' queries are answered by nameservers located in the user's region.

GTD, also known as geo-load balancing can be used to optimize traffic flow and improve query resolution accuracy.

  • US East
  • US West
  • Europe
  • Asia-Pac
  • Oceania

What Our Customers Say:

"I love the GeoDNS feature, being able to send people to different regions depending on which is closer. It even works within the same country! "

Get the Most Accurate GeoDNS Responses

When you combine IP Filters or GeoProximity with GTD

The GTD can correct any errors caused by incorrect IP to Location mapping databases from GeoIP services (IP Filters and GeoProximity); as well as incorrect lookups by poor peering practices.

Constellix is the only platform that offers these two services together, giving you the most accurate configurations in the industry. (Patent pending)

GeoDNS with EDNS Client Subnet

Our GeoIP servers use EDNS-Client-Subnet to give you the most accurate response based on the actual location of your IP (as opposed to the closest regional server). Additionally, the Geo backend can be used to provide service over several clusters. Any of which can be taken out of use easily, say for maintenance purposes.

Ask your resolver if they support EDNS and learn how you can start creating even more precise configurations. Constellix has established itself as the industry leader in EDNS offerings, and encourages resolvers to consider adopting EDNS technology for greater accuracy.

These features can be defined on a per record basis to ANAME, CNAME, and AAAA records.
